It aint wet! I told you, it's Superdry!

A Japanese, vintage Americana inspired brand with its English tailor made cuts, Superdry has been in the industry for about 10 years.
I wasnt really aware of their clothing until I walked into one of the Edwin Jean stores at Canal Walk.

Immediately falling inlove with their range and moreso it's quality, I could've bought the whole shop. The thick chunky knits, the leather jackets, the hoodies, the sneakers, the laptop bags, the accessories, the list is never ending. All I know is, that I was completely thrown and in awe.

You can get your Superdry fix at The Edwin Jeans store, at Cape Quarter, Green Point. However, to check out the WHOLE Superdry range, there's an awesome pop-up store opening at the V&A Waterfront around the 20 May.

If you into branded quality and cutting edge detail, then Superdry is what your wardrobe is craving!

To view their clothing, accessory and footwear range, visit their web page and online store:

GLOW with INGLOT

A makeup brand which I am in complete and utter awe of is.. (DRUM ROLL)

One of the leading makeup brands in the world, it graced South Africa with a wide range of colours and products, from Perfect Concealers to Full Metal Eyeliner to beautifully eccentric feathered Avant Garde Eyelashes to what they call, the "Freedom System".
Now the "Freedom System" is what got me hooked to INGLOT. It basically means what it says, being free to choose any lip colour, in any quantity and any colour eyeshadow, concealer or foundation, and thereby creating your own makeup pallette.
If you've ever visited an INGLOT Store, you will be amazed at the merchandising. Its modern, colourful, vibrant, eye catchy merchandising intrigues everyone that walks by or enters.

INGLOT has been around for quite some time. About 25 years ago Wojtek Inlgot, a chemist who worked in the Research and Development department at a pharmaceutical company, decided that he would "makeup" his own makeup brand.

To view INGLOT's latest trends and colours, be sure to visit their webpage:
http://www.inglotcosmetics.com/

For the ladies who love their makeup and even for those who don't, do yourself a favour and visit your nearest INGLOT store to check out the Freedom System. Trust me! You'll love it.

#WinterLookBook - Part 4 "Look Around All Around "

Being the final part of this lookbook series, I decided to leave the quirky look for last. After a long stroll around Obz, we discovered a hand painted wall (literally a painted wall with hand prints), which we absolutely HAD to shoot.

So me, with my knock knees and Tassin with her pimped out hoodie, worked it.

Further onto our journey, we stumbled across a magic wall. So drawn to its artsy, revolutionary ambience, I kicked back as Tassin got a good few shots in.

This quirky look was inspired by the child in me. Although I'm a mother, I'm still someone's daughter.

This Winter LookBook series was only the first of many still to come. Not too keen on modelling, I want to divert from the latter so that I am able to focus more on styling and makeup. For those of you who follow my blog and facebook page, make contact with me or Tassin Albertyn from The Archive, as we would love to work with anyone who is interested in modelling or marketing their makeup, accessory and / or clothing brand.

Colour Enhancing

Applying makeup can be tricky, messy and well, umm difficult. The result can head one of two ways; Red Carpet, Vogue Cover, Catwalk Model kind of nice OR? Tacky, Cheap Cabaret, going Cold Turkey kind of, well, ugly.

I've come to learn that choosing the right colour foundation is of UTMOST importance when applying makeup.
The "build-up" thereafter is important but, the first step and hence, being named "Foundation", is to set the look. If the foundation is incorrect, the rest of the look cannot be achieved and the end result will be disappointing.

Later on this week, I will be sure to upload a step by step makeup tutorial. Focusing mainly on setting the foundation.
For today however, I would like to share a makeup photoshoot we did some time back. Myself, Tassin and our 2 models. Qaanita Isaacs and Yumna Parker, got together to have some lady fun.

My inspiration was "colour".

#WinterLookBook - Part 3 "Style - Food For Thought"

Not one who religiously follows current trends, my sense of style is determined by emotion. Usually when my mood is erratic i.e. miserable, irritable, depressed or frustrated, I settle for a sporty / laid back attire. I slap on the sweaty track pants with an oversized knit and my New Balance or Kicks. Hair dirty for days, nails long and “undid”, “makeup-less” and ready to just kick it back and watch movies.
Needless to say, style cannot be defined by name brands or wealth, nor can it be copied and pasted. It is a thing that represents you. It says, creatively, something about who you are and what you stand for. It DOESN’T define you though. Our character defines us. I think that’s a misconception which gives rise to much of the superficiality our society is faced with.
The reason I tend to steer away from mainstream and current trends, is merely because I hate the idea of being told, WHAT to wear and HOW to wear it. Just because its IN doesn’t mean I have to sell myself OUT.
Also, there are things that work for my body type and suit my personality, and there are things that don’t. As part of the Winter Look Book series, I present part 3. It’s my favourite look, as it encompasses various aspects of my persona.
