#WinterLookBook - Part 1

We set out on a serious mission to get the perfect location for a lookbook photoshoot we've been wanting to do for a long while now.
Well over due and having FINALLY made it too this point, Tassin and I made sure we were going to make it worth our while.

After a few smokes, a Play energy drink and a long catch up sesh, we hit the road. And by road, I mean the M5. And by the M5 I mean the highway that leads to Obz.
Upon arrival, our location was ready to be U.T.I.L.I.S.E.D baby.

We were so eager about this awesome spot we found in Obz. Tassin with her camera, me with my fur jacket, sequence high waist hotpants and ankle boots strutted our stuff down the mainroad. She my pimp, me her hoe, we damn sure made an awesome team, because THIS is what happened...

Fur Jacket: China Town Plain Black Soft Knit: Mr Price High Sequenced Waist Hotpants: Mr Price Black Ankle Boots: Zara
I must admit that the last shot is somewhat masculine. However, there is something complex about this shot that I totally dig. Its the type of photograph that screams a F@*K YOU attitude. #LoveIt

So this is the first part of our winter lookbook trend. Hope you liked it & have a super tight long weekend.

Be Safe! One Love!

What We Wear on the Weekend

Its Saturday night and I'm getting ready to hit the town with my sister. Unsure of where we're headed or what we're going to do, Long Street is where we KNOW we want to be.
Not in the state of mind for an overly crowded venue, we settled in at the Eastern Palace Restaurant at Urban Chic Hotel.

Cape Town was buzzing from the aftermath of The Cape Town Carnival which was hosted in Green Point. Maryam and I, quite content with our choice, ordered some sushi, vegetable spring rolls and a cuppa cafe latte.

Suffice to say, dinner was absolutely scrumptious. Straight after our meal, we headed for a late night drive. No, I lie, we had to use the ladies first. So thats where all of this happened...

And then there was Sunday. The one day of the week when most radio stations play slow jams, people take long, romantic walks along the beach front and families make a concerted effort to cook and spend time together at lunch.

With my polka dot wide legged pants, red 3/4 length knit, vintage bag and favourite pair of Zara shoes, I was well on my way to strolling down Sea Point Promenade, in style.... my kinda style..

Subject: Creative Writing

My name is Farzaanah Richards. I am 27 Years of age. My birthday is on 30 April and I am a mother of 2 daughters. Everyday is a new experience with different lessons to be learnt. Today I am experiencing a taste of winter and I've learnt that I need to dress a little bit "thicker" than usual.

So I decided to throw on one of my favourite items at the moment. An oversized knit along with a tiny little vintage suitcase I purchased, not too long ago.

Well, thats it from me for now.... have an awesome kick ass weekend!

A makeup bath with Pat Mcgrath

One of the world's leading and most influential makeup artists, Pat Mcgrath has graced international fashion shows with her innovative work. With no formal training in makeup, she's really set the precedent for many makeup artists and even photographers, the world over.

Her most recent work was staged on the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week SS13

Dior Haute Collection SS13
What sets Pat apart from most makeup artists is that, instead of utilising brushes to apply foundations and lipstick or gloss etc, she keeps it simple by using her fingers and hands. To create a certain look, Pat gathers arb little ornaments and other resources. The above and below images proves my point. She used Swarovski Diamonds and glued it onto the lip after applying layers of lipstick and gloss.

Dior Haute Collection SS13

Givenchy Paris FW SS13, Pat kept it a tad bit simpler and softer. One can always appreciate unique, when its this simple. Matching the soft pink eyes and lips with the coiled, bold helmet hair.

Pat Mcgrath outdoes herself and continuously re-invents her style of makeup. From the simplcity of application to the dramatic and "over the top" end result.
Have a look at some of her work. As a makeup artist, I truly am inspired by her ingenuity, innovation and creativity.

Method to the Madness

We are all one!
Saturday, 02 March 2013 marked an important milestone in our events calender. The HOLIONE Festival hosted, for the first time in Cape Town, was ONE for the books. Amidst the eco-friendly colour powder, legendary reggae, hip hop beats, electro house and dubsteb (which I'm personally NOT too fond of), an elating energy spread over the entire crowd.

Ika, me, Maryam (sister) and Joe missioned our way at around 3pm to the Grand Central Parade to get our party on. After standing in, what seemed to be a never ending que of hippies, we finally found our way in, straight en route to the "powder sales" marquee to hook ourselves up with some serious COLOUR!

After partying for 6hours straight, with colour powder serenading the open air every hour on the hour, you can ONLY imagine what our clothes, shoes, accessories looked like. Needless to say, I would do it again. And again..... and again! It was an EPIC EVENT!
If you missed out? Ensure you book your ticket, for next year's HOLIONE, NOW already.
